Halloween in December

As we were looking thru some recent pictures of Zoe Kate, we realized she has “dressed-up” more this winter than she did for Halloween.  You’ll see what I mean…

House is brown, Grass is white?

As some of you know, we live in a cabin here in Vilas (“suburb” of Boone).  Poor Zoe Kate has been stuck in this house for a few days, now, since it’s so cold and snowy outside.  Also, the ground is as white as Santa’s beard, which is what will be the norm here for a couple more months.

Since our last post, ZK has learned more things about the world.  First, she has learned that she has a voice, which we never want her to forget (note: she has discovered her lungs, as well…they are very different).

She has also discovered her hands (and we discovered her old-man pants).

In other news, while Matt was out of town last week, Zoe Kate and I trekked to Charlotte.  Three trips down the snowy mountainous driveway to load the car (at the bottom of said driveway) and one bust on the ice later, we were on the road.  I got to see good friends, stay in my room at the Chitester’s and catch up with Julia, Todd and their 3 wonderful kiddos, and get some much needed “city” time: walking to Starbucks, grocering at Trader Joes, and even strolling around South Park Mall (Most of the time, I dislike shopping.  It plum wears me out.  But I actually wanted to go to the mall…it was strange and worrisome).  Refreshed, we returned to Boone in time to greet Matt as he arrived back from Dallas, TX.  I wish I had a picture of the smile ZK had plastered to her face when she saw her Daddy; it probably stuck for a minute, she was so giddy.  It’s good to have us all under one roof again.  Next stop…Memphis on Dec 20!

Here are some other classic pictures from the last couple of weeks…
